Within minutes, every carbon monoxide detector on every floor of the house was going off and ADT called me immediately. Thank goodness ADT called me after three of my alarms kept warning me to evacuate and insisted that I do so

I switched to Safe Streets for better service. At that time, my previous contract was ending so I wanted to look for other options. The Safe Streets installer was professional, very knowledgeable and very prompt. He came on the dot at 8 AM and was quick. I already had a previous setup so all they had to do was switch it over to theirs. It was a bit pricey but I guess I paid for what I get. So far, the system is good. I haven’t had any problems and my experience with them has gone well.

When we were purchasing a house, the realtor set us up with Safe Streets to get set up with insurance, security and electrical. All the installation went perfectly and the installer has been very cordial and explained everything thoroughly. Safe Streets provides really good customer service. If I had a question, I will call and their team would answer appropriately. They are awesome. The provide me with more sense of security for my home and my family.

Safety Tip: Tips for Reducing False Alarms

You can take several steps to reduce false alarms. The first is to identify their causes.

For homeowners, some common causes include:

  • Using incorrect keypad codes.
  • Failing to train authorized users.
  • Failure to secure doors and windows once the alarm is turned on.
  • Wandering pets.
  • Re-entering the home just after leaving without disarming (assuming the exit delay is long enough to compensate).
  • Objects hanging by or around motion detectors.
  • Weak system batteries.
  • Faulty equipment.
  • Acts of nature (strong winds, electrical storms, etc.).

False alarms due to faulty equipment or acts of nature are rare. The single largest cause of false alarms is human error.

Tip of the week

Modern motion sensors can be easily calibrated to avoid your lovable family members. You don’t have to choose between having a protected home and your furry friends anymore. Just remember to put them outside when you test your alarms as loud noises can give them quite a scare.

“I have insurance so I’m covered. Right?”
Home insurance claims can get expensive. When a claim is filed for a burglary loss, the homeowner is responsible for the cost of the deductible as well as the possible spike in insurance premiums. A security system protects you against these events occurring in the first place. Check to see if your monitoring company has complementary protection such as SafetyNet which covers up to $1,000 of your deductible in the event of a loss. Or, check with your home insurance company to see if they offer discounts to people who have a monitored home alarm system.
